Job Interview and the economy tanking...AGAIN!!

So I had a job interview today and everything seemed to go ok :)  Job doesnt start until Sept 1st but at least its something. Filled out 2 apps this evening both for call center positions and I've got another interview lined up.  Things are starting to roll of course they would be rolling faster IF the stinking S & P hadn't downgraded our credit rating!! Seriously it was painfully obvious yesterday morning when reviewing wanted ads that that dumb credit rating didn't just hurt the government but mine and many other people's job prospects!!  Evil evil credit when are we just gonna get rid of it completely?

The Goals

One thing that I know that's important is keeping a list of your goals.  So I'm going to keep them up here and mark them off as I go :)  Hopefully I can get through the whole list!

Short Term

  1. Get a job
  2. Quit Smoking
  3. Get Christian counting to 10 and alphabet down!
Deadline:Sept. 5th!

Long Term

  1. Finish Writing
  2. TAKE A VACATION
  3. Get student loans paid off
I believe in keeping it simple so we'll stick with 6 for now :)  Maybe as time progresses I'll add more we'll see.

Apps and Scams

I have decided that some very smart person needs to make an app for filling out applications.  I mean it can't be that hard if you can make Angry Birds you can make an app to fill out an application for me.  Unemployed everywhere would be eternally greatful!  Ok well at least for like a month maybe not eternity.

Moving on Craigslist scams are quite possibly the most obnoxious thing on the planet!  I mean really how stupid do you think I am?  Sure I'll give you all of my information, why not?   I mean your gonna send me a giant check just for doing that right?  And hey you've got to be and honest person your on Craigslist...right.  Seriously folks give it up and stop wasting my time.

Anyways onto the Update: 1 potential position with Group Health spoke with them today I've gotta take a bunch  of tests and as long as I pass stage 2 is interview.  Prob: Doesnt start until Aug 30th :(  guess what OH well its a job!
4 Apps put in two to blind companies for Claims rep it's in Liberty Lake so I'm assuming Liberty Mutual.

So onto tomorrow.  I figure if I plug away at this everyday somethings gotta give sooner or later!  Cross your fingers for me and wish me luck!

The Grand Purpose

I think the purpose of this blog is pretty self explanatory.  To keep a record of my job search as well as to recieve any tips advice ect from the public in general.  I will upload my resume and any cover letters ect.  Advice is GREATLY APPERCIATED!!

The other reason for this though is to just have a record of how tough it is to get a job in this economy.  Maybe if  companies start seeing what people are going through they will start finding ways to hire more people even in this rough economy.

A little bit of background

My name is Kelly Wendt I have been employed off and on since I was 19 years old.  The reason for the gaps in employment is simple, children.  I have 3 children and after the birth of each I chose to take time off to be a Mom for a while usually for 1 to 2 years.  During these times my husband worked.  When I was ready to reenter the workforce we would switch and he would stay home with the kids.  We do not believe in daycare.

As for my professional background I have worked in customer service my whole life mostly in the financial sector.  Starting with being a personal Telephone Banker for Washington Mutual and transitioning into the insurance industry with Pemco.  I am currently a licensed property and casualty producer in the state of Washington and I enjoy what I do greatly.  And I might add I am very good at it.  Customer service is my forte!  There is nothing more rewarding in my opinion than being able to help someone understand what we as insurance producers do and how insurance works.  If I can get one person to say "Huh, well yeah that makes sense!"  Than I'm a happy camper. I strive to think outside of the box for my clients and companies benefit and will do  everything in my power to find a solution that works for both parties.

I am quick learner and take to new things rather quickly.  Ecspecially computer programs.  I take direction rather well but I can work independently just as well.  I also give direction just as well something that honestly comes from having 3 children!  I work very well under pressure and some would say even best however I do like  to avoid it and get my work done in a timely manner.

What I'm looking for in an employer

Excellence is the best word I can think of.  No, I am not looking for the perfect company but one that treats it's employees and customers with integrity and respect. A company that at it's core promotes a fun work enviroment and believes in investing in it's employees. Honesty is also a must.

I think that's about it.  I will also be adding my resume and my job log for this week.  Again any critiques advice would be helpful!  Oh and if you know anyone that is hiring please forward this!!
